"J" reads at open mic
RJ Ridgely and Eric Poe host a poetry reading "Spoken Word" at Wine Me Up in Westminster. They mix in open mic readings through out the evening and these are a few of the participants. They also mix in a challenge - giving you three words to use to create a poem on the spot - J is reading his....The three words this time were clutch, empathy and foul.

Kevin C. Thornton is a Public Relations and communications professional with 25 years experience, most of it with a Fortune 500 firm. He is also a published poet whose work has appeared in a variety of publications including Baltimore Review and Maryland Poetry Review. The former host of Catonsville’s Function @ the Junction poetry series, he has served as a poetry advisor for the American Music & Arts Festival and editor of several poetry anthologies. Kevin is also a freelance writer who publishes a daily blog, “Nation of One” which can be accessed at: www.thornton.blogdrive.com. He is a songwriter with credits on recent CDs by The Willys, a Gettysburg, PA-based band, and wrote and recorded the soundtrack for My Left Hand, a cancer documentary by Seattle-native Joshua Isaac which has been featured in the Seattle Jewish Film and Tacoma Film Festival. I was recently at the Carroll Arts Center for a Thursday night reading where I heard RJ Ridgely read. I promise I will post some of his own work soon, but I just loved his take on this poem.
